Little Miss had been hearing for some time that she had a surprise coming in the mail. She LOVES the mail. In fact, she loves the mail so much that when we get packages she gives them to the family member they belong to and insists they sit beside her on the couch so she can see what they got. Her absolute favorite is my junk mail she thinks it came just for her and gets so excited to open “her” mail. I told her this mail would be a package just for her and it would have princess stuff in it. My Lord two favorites in one! Mail and princesses. So each day we would watch for her DISNEY Princess Pley Box.

Disney Princess box, Disney Princess Subscription Box, Disney Pleybox, toys, toy subscription, princess subscription

Little Miss was very happy her surprise came in a large pink box. Surely if it comes in a PINK box it must be super awesome. Let me tell you. It did not disappoint at all! Keep in mind with the box in hand all I knew was it would be something to do with a DISNEY princess.

The boxes are a mystery to everyone until you receive it and open it, that is half the fun!

DISNEY Pley Box Packaging

Right on the very top of the box was this super cute pair of Princess Ariel pajamas! Little Miss was so excited!  She wanted to wear them right then and there. From what I understand most boxes contain a T-shirt so it was really neat to pull out some PJ’s. They are good quality and have stood up to many washes with little shrinkage and no fading at all. They are her very favorite pajamas now.

DISNEY Ariel Pajamas -Pley Box

The DISNEY Princess Ariel fashion doll is just the right size to play with those “other fashion dolls” She was so in awe of this beautiful doll with her vivid soft flowing red hair and mermaid clothing. “Giga she is a fishy like Mr. Blue!” ( She has a pet beta fish she adores.) She quickly introduced this Princess to all her new friends “The fashion dolls”. They have been the best of friends since.

Not the best photo it focused on that gorgeous doll. Isn’t she just so pretty? What little girl would not fall in love with her?

ARIEL from DISNEY childrens sunglasses. PLEY BOX

Little Miss is 2 and just a bit more than a 1/2 and the glasses fit her little face well. They had UV protection stickers on them so while they are cute as can be they are also protecting her eyes all while looking like a diva.

Sunglasses for children DISNEY PRINCESS green Ariel - Pley Box

Flounder is made of harder rubber I am guessing. Taking him in the pool or bath does not seem to bother him at all. Little Miss gets a kick out of having him to play with amongst her bath toys. He is no worse for wear. He is a fish after all 😉 .

and we have a Flounder the fish PLEY BOX

Of course, Flounder must get a kiss because she loves him! Included in every box is also an activity book. In this book, you will also find instructions on making each box into a castle you can color. Though this one turned into a ship. It also includes a little story about the princess and other fun activities.

Fish Kiss

All in all, I am very impressed with our very first Pley Box. Everything was packaged well and really nice quality. Almost a month later Little Miss is still playing with and wearing the things that she got in her box.

Fabulous Blogs You’ll Want to Read

Along, my path of being a forum owner turned Mom Blogger I have become far more interested in other blogs. Not just your typical mommy blogs but even fashion, cooking and crafting among other things. It is really interesting to get to know these other women through their words and photos. I have met some pretty incredible people. Made a few friends and learned a ton. How could I not share just a little of this with you wonderful ladies?

Womens blogs you will just love.

Love, Kimber

I will be the first to admit. I am far from fashionable. If you saw the way I am dressed right now you would roll about on the floor with laughter. I assure you, you would.

What made me love this blog that I stumbled upon by accident is not just that Kimber shows you her current favorite outfit in so many different and interesting settings she tells you about her day and life like she is talking to an old friend.

This lady has such a beautiful sense of style and sweet personality it is close to impossible not to keep returning to see what she is up to.

I love the fact that when you comment she just about always replies. It shows that she is glad that you were there and I like that.

If you are looking for a faith-filled blog with some southern charm and humor this is the place for you. I have known Thelma for years and years. She is one of the sweetest, most loving, kind people I have ever had the pleasure of “meeting”. Her blog does not disappoint.  Her blog is one I visit often. She tells stories about her sweet dog Sammy and her three teens. She is transparent and will willing discuss her downfalls so not only can she learn from them but the rest of us can too. Reading her blog makes you want to meet up with her at a cozy little coffee cafe and chat the hours away.

I found Michelle on a Facebook group. Besides the fact that she works and I am a stay at home mom we have so much in common and I just adore her.  I look forward her blog posts and have taken so much out of reading them. She shares how she balances life between working outside the home and her beautiful family. She is down to earth something I really really like. It keeps her real and relatable. Much like myself, she is new to the world of Mom Bloggers but let me tell you she rocks at blogging you would never guess she has not been at it for years. She is another of my very favorite blogs.

The Kingers & I

Not all that long ago when I was glancing through Pinterest a title jumped right out at me. 20 Things I Wish I Could Tell My Mother-In-Law. As my own son is getting married I wanted to see another woman’s ideas at what might bother her because I never want to make my own daughter-in-law feel uncomfortable or dislike me. Their article pulled me in as did all their others I have read thus far. Their blog is stunning and the writing is heartfelt and meaningful and they tell us things we need to hear sometimes. Their personal life lessons are used to help others. This blog is one I promise you that you do not want to pass by for sure.

Five Friday Favorites

One: Pley Boxes

Watch for the unboxing photos this week. This little box contains so much fun, Disney princess theme! Every other month features a different princess What princess do you think it featured this month?

Pley Box

Two: Krups Coffee Maker

We recently purchased a Kitchen Aid Coffee maker I was not a fan. Don’t get me wrong I love most of their other stuff, however, this coffee maker would leak when you poured it. Just a design flaw it because it did make good coffee. That is now gone and this one , the Krups is awesome!!! Hot coffee, really fast brew and best of all no coffee covered counters.Did I mention it makes coffee super fast!

Three: Kids After Bite

We live in Maine. The bugs suck like really suck. Even with bug spray, they seem to figure out how to have a taste. Little Miss suddenly realized bites itch. So before she scratches the random bite here and there into an infected mess we stop the itches in its tracks with this. It WORKS! I know because I use it on myself.  I bought the kids formula simply because I figured it would be made more gentle.

Four: Melissa & Doug My Daily Calendar

We now use this daily. At this point, it is Little Miss’s favorite daily activity.  I see some flaws in it missing certain events with no way to add them, it is also missing certain weather aspects like windy, or even certain storms. Overall the quality is nice as are most things of this brand.

Five: My Life Dolls (Walmart version of American Girl Doll)

Little Miss is almost three.  Though I know American Girl dolls are a great quality toy I wanted to wait until she is a bit older invest in such an expensive doll. I had seen Targets version of AG dolls and honestly, there are issues with the hair becoming matted in the reviews. I am sorry but even for $30, I don’t want to pay for something that will end up looking like trash. When we were at Wal-mart I noticed their version was clearance is under $15. I figured what the heck. We got her home and unboxed her. My only issue was her hair on two sides was sewn into the plastic packaging. But it is silky smooth. Honestly, even at 27 dollars, the doll is really nice quality at under $15 she is a steal. Peoples only complaint was she does not sit. It’s not an issue for us. She is a new favorite here. Little Miss named her Annabelle.

Whirlpool Front Loader Review

* This is not sponsored content; it is simply a personal review of something I use in my everyday life.*

So a while back I posted a review about the Whirlpool Cabrio washer and dryer we had. I still have the dryer and the dryer works great! (Knock on wood) and I told you all that Whirlpool did step up to the plate and she shipped me not only a NEW washing machine but a new washing machine of my choice. You can read all about that here and the review.

We picked the Whirlpool 4.5 cu. ft. Front Load Washer with Load & Go™ Bulk Dispenser

A review of the 4.5 cu. ft. Front Load Washer with Load & Go™ Bulk Dispenser www.simplymoms.net

Let me tell you this machine did not disappoint it is everything I wanted and things I didn’t even know I wanted.

How well does it wash clothing?

Right from the first load I did, there was a clear and noticeable difference in the smell and brightness of the clothing I washed. Finally, things were coming out smelling fresh and without the dingy look, they had obtained with the other machine. Towels were no longer scratchy,  they softened back up because they were actually coming clean. I seriously do not think things were getting cleaned properly with the other machine.

What is your favorite feature on this machine?

Surprisingly it is something I did not think I would like. It is the load and go bulk dispenser. Basically, you pour in twelve loads worth of detergent and for the next twelve loads you can just toss in the clothing and click start. It is really handy since I buy my laundry detergent in huge bottles and not having to lift and handle them every single time is a blessing. The machine gives a warning light when it is low and another color warning light when it is empty. You can also just remove the bulk dispenser and use it like normal. adding detergent each time.

Detergent dispenser on whirlpool front loader closed

Detergent dispenser on whirlpool front loader opened

Are there any other nifty features?

You bet! Fan fresh is a huge feature I missed when I got the other machine. After the wash is done a fresh air fan starts up and it tumbles the clothing here and there until you pull it out to dry the load. I love this here in Maine during the summer because normally the load will start to smell mildewed pretty fast. This keeps everything clean and fresh even if you do not get to it for hours!

Whirlpool front loader panel

Tell me more.

Overall this machine is just beautiful and quiet running. I do not have it on a pedestal because I am rather short so it does not bother me that it is sort of low. It holds huge loads of laundry and has settings from very very delicate to pretty aggressive for dirtier loads.

Front loader washing machine

When I was out of bleach I ran my towels through the sanitize cycle and everything came out fresh and clean. This cycle would be great for Mamas who cloth diaper as it is not recommended to use bleach. I also ran my Little Miss Toddler’s holiday dress through the delicate cycle. The dress is made of velvet, ribbons, tulle with spots of glitter.I was impressed there was zero damage to what is a pretty fragile looking dress.

As for stains, it has powered out stains the other machine did not touch, finger paint, chocolate milk, pet urine, blood some of them being old stains and with the SAME detergent so it was clearly a case of the machine not doing well. This one is BOSS!

One more thing I really like is the cycle signal can be turned off, up or even down. I love that because it was rather loud at night with the little one sleeping.

Inside of washer

Are there any cons?

Only one… The panel is at the front so a small child can access the buttons. Though the buttons can be locked out.

Whirlpool Cabrio Washer Dead in Three Months

I am really not one to post a negative review and I will say some good will come out it from Whirlpool themselves. However, this “top of the line”  washing machine became a huge waste of not only money but time as well.

Whirlpool Cabrio Review

The little things I did not like.

This machine is a non-agitator top loading machine. I seriously wanted one and drooled over this machine for the longest time. I got it home and realized  I am 5’2″ tall I can not reach the inside bottom of this machine without leaning half in and having to hyperextend my arm.If there is a sock or something very flat at the bottom I struggle to fish it out. It makes doing laundry for this short lady a task.

Whirlpool Cabrio Drum

You can not just toss laundry in. It needs to be loaded around the tiny “agitator” plate and not cover it. Otherwise, things will become unbalanced and not wash properly.

Speaking of not washing properly sheets, comforters and other large items tend to get stretched out across the load and the middle does not get wet or wash at all sometimes. That one spot on the stretched item will just remain dry and unwashed because the water jets spray around the edges.

The tinted glass makes it hard to see in the machines. It is not a big deal for the dryer but because of the issues with the washer, it would be nice to make sure the load is washing properly so if you had to you could readjust it.

The positive things.

I love the color of the machines they are a shiny gray they refer to as chrome.

The dryer seems to work well it has a ton of settings including steam (However I do not have the water hooked up to it so no idea how well that works.)

The tinted glass does look nice.

The dryer’s lint screen is super easy to clean out.

Happy Three Months The Washer Is Dead

Yup, you read that right the washer is dead. One night it started flashing error codes and whirlpool said to unplug it for five minutes, plug it back in and it would be fine. WRONG, so wrong. I plugged it back in thinking I would get back to washing clothes. It would not power back on. Dead as a doornail. That was well over a month ago. The story gets even better. You ready for this?

We got online and contacted Whirlpool that night and set up warranty service for the next day. Awesome! Just a little hick up. Or so we thought.

The repair man came out. Surprise, it is broken. (You don’t say?)It needed a panel and board. He ordered the parts assuring us it would take a week to ten days. It’s been a month plus. We have put in call after call to the repair place. Nope, no part. Nope, they can’t track it? (The repair place is a whole other nightmare)

So with it being over the month mark we are frustrated and decide to figure out ourselves where the part is. Interestingly they do not know. How can they not know? They sent it. So they tell my husband they will send another and expedite it. A week later still no part. So My husband calls Whirlpool AGAIN. He gets a supervisor on the phone guess what? That part is on back order.

Whirlpool’s Resolution

This supervisor did take the time to listen to the whole situation and she did admit that these washers are an issue.(Hence the reason the parts are on back order) In fact, they are redesigned now or in the process of it. After listening she told him to pick a new washer and they would ship it. So now we are waiting on a new front loader to show up. So I am unhappy that they made such a horrible machine that seems to be failing for a lot of people. With that said I am happy my husband really pressed the issue with them and they found a way to resolve it. I am praying the new machine is far better and last like my other Whirlpool front loader did.

Come check out my new Whirlpool front loader review here.

As for the repair man, the place they warranted through is a complete joke and he seems to be collecting warranty work money and never finishing it. he has complaints through the BBB, and tons of bad reviews online for horrible treatment of customers. Much of the same issues we had with him. I tend to think he got the first part and used it elsewhere. He promised us a loner machine over a week ago and never brought it he was a no call no show day after day. Shaking my head.

As Pa Ingalls said, “Alls well that ends well.”

I dislike posting negative reviews but, I also feel with the priceyness of this item buyers should be forewarned. I wish I was.

Books Little Miss Toddler Loves

The one thing I have always loved doing was reading to my children. My fifteen year old still likes me to read to him to this day. Now, Little Miss Toddler loves books every bit as much as my children did and she is always bringing me a book and her favorite blanket and climbing up into my lap asking me to read to her.

The suggested book images are affiliate links from Amazon. I make a small commission on them for you using the links. This does not cost you anything extra.

Giraffes Can’t Dance

Is a colorfully illustrated story about a giraffe who thinks he can not dance. But an unlikely friend gives him words of encouragement and he is soon dancing to his own music. Little Miss loves the animals in this book and the bright and funny illustrations.

Goodnight Moon

A classic children’s must have for saying good night. Little Miss is in love with the moon. The moment she touched this book it was a favorite.

In a great green room, tucked away in bed, is a little bunny. “Goodnight room, goodnight moon.

Ten Little Monkeys

Little miss loves the repetitiveness and the silly pictures of the monkeys jumping on the bed. A classic rhyming story that helps develop number skills. I have been listening to her recite this now for days. So it is clear it is well loved.

Peek-Who?

Two things Little Miss loves animals and surprises. This book has both as it provides only a peek of what animal will be on the next page through the die cuts. It is very colorful and a rhyming text. For me, it is a short read which is nice for those times I am busy and want to read her a quick book.

What are your toddler’s favorite books?

Digital Cards – Why I Love them

The following post is sponsored by Paperless Post. I received free coins to purchase online cards. However, all opinions are my own.

I will let you in on a small secret. I have an issue and I always have. I love to shop for cards. Filling them out also gives me joy. Mailing them out…It never happens. I have thrown away in my lifetime at least hundreds of Christmas cards, birthday cards, invitations and more. I don’t know what it is I just never seem to get them mailed out. I am terrible at it.

Less than six months ago my grand baby had her second birthday party. I designed invitations so painstakingly and once again they sat. Wasted, time, ink, money all down the drain. I do always revert back to a phone call or an email just because it was more simple.

Then as a blogger, I was approached to review Paperless Post. I was intrigued because I remember the cards online back in the day. They were always full of spam for both the sender and the receiver or highly expensive.

So I poked around on their site some before I decided to tell you all about it and I was pleasantly surprised. The cards are trendy and highly customizable. They didn’t look silly. I would not be ashamed to email one to anyone.

So I decided to mail one just to test it out. I emailed my husband a belated birthday card. I was able to choose a card, change the font and even what it said. I was also able to pick a background the card was showed on. The stamp for the envelope and the liner for the envelope as well. Then I simply added his email and away it sent.

Paperless Post card

He got it almost instantly and said that he thought it was pretty cool.

I have a baby shower coming up in a couple months and you can bet that I will be sending out 20 or so invitations through Paperless Post. Hey, I’m savings some steps and some trees! It is win-win all the way around.

I also realized that you could get printed versions of their cards and invitations. Though for me digital seems to be the key. There is a charge for the cards. It cost me six coins to mail my card out using premium options. When I started my account they started me out with 30 free coins. I looked and you can buy a twenty pack of “coins” for $6.00 personally for me that is a savings since the person the card is intended for will get it.

So if you are like me or just prefer digital because of its ease of use checkout  https://www.paperlesspost.com/cards/group/birthday-cards

Five On Friday (Link Up)

This post was inspired by the Five on Friday Link up.

One

Last night we decided to go out to dinner with the kids at the Home Town Buffet and roam around the Maine Mall for a bit of time after my hubby got home from work after eating we ended up over at best buy. I decided to break away ad go admire cameras. (A girl can dream, right?)  Because at tax time we decided to forgo the camera we had picked so I could have a new computer. Hubby walked up behind me and says “That’s a nice camera. Is that the one you want?” I told him at some point I would like it. He picks it up and buys it…Along with a camera bag, new rechargeable batteries, and a bag. So my number one is how blessed I feel by my husband’s gift. There were things he needed that he put aside for me.

Review of My Pets Friend Pet Stain and Odor Remover

If you have pets that pee on the floor you are going to want to read about this pet stain and odor remover from the Dollar Tree.

We have these Poodles. Two of them and they are demon spawns naughty, crazy and sweet all in one. Lucky and Levi. They are from the same litter and have the same issue and they have had this little issue for all the eight years we have owned them.

Poodle wall of shame

Yes, they like to pee inside. On my chair, on the floor, on my trash can. We have scolded, attempted to retrain, ignored, taken them out more and more piled on praise for outside potty time and just cleaned and cleaned and cleaned. Still, they continue to do their business as they please inside.

I was talking to my someday daughter in law about the issue. We both just thought that even though I scrub, steam clean and scrub some more their little poodle noses can still smell their pee. I mentioned that I saw a cheap version of enzyme cleaner at the Dollar Tree. Well, her sweet Zoey had an accident the other night so she stopped at the Dollar Tree and grabbed two bottles. One for her and one for little  me. Bless her heart! Little did I know this stuff was going to instantly change my life! Well, not really but, at the very least stop me from asking company if they can smell dog pee odors. LOL

Pet Stain Remover From The Dollar Tree

No, of course I didn’t spray the doggie. 😉

I went right to his favorite spot that had been steam cleaned but, still had faint traces of dog urine and I let that chair have it. Then I went around and sprayed every other favorite pee spot. I let it sit and dry. This morning, I got down and smelled that chair and the smell is gone! Not even a trace of the nasty dog urine smell. Get this… it smells pleasant now!

Something else I noticed the dog has stopped sniffing around it like he did before.  So far today no accidents. I am not holding my breath on being so Lucky it cured the issue but personally I think it is helping.

My Pets Friend Pet Stain and Oder Remover

This product is sold at the Dollar Tree. I am not affiliated with the Dollar Tree nor this product. I am simply reviewing it because it works.

The Directions on the bottle are simple.

  1. You need to soak up all the pee.
  2. Then you must spray the cleaner very generously on the stain insuring if it is on a carpet it gets well into the pad.
  3. You need to rub the product into any stains on your carpet or upholstery.
  4. Then let everything  air dry.

This is just what I did on an OLD stain and it worked. I will tell you on the chairs I had steam cleaned before hand but those smells were well set in. The smell of urine is now completely gone..

If you have pets this is a must buy at the Dollar Tree.

And Lucky Ole boy we still love you even with all your imperfections you are still family.
